Aamir Khan’s unique trait of serving a mega-blockbuster over a platter of social messages has worked its magic once again. The December 2016 release has now surpassed Aamir Khan’s previous biggest hit PK.
This is the third time in a row Aamir Khan as surpassed his previous biggest hit (3 Idiots, PK and Dangal). With this, Dangal has also become the highest ever grossing movie in Indian cinema’s history.

While PK earned ₹340.8 crore in its entirety, Dangal crossed that mark when it earned ₹31.79 crore in its third weekend. Dangal’s total earnings now amount to ₹345.29 crore and it’s not even like Dangal is not running in theaters anymore.
With its current form, Dangal looks to earn close to ₹375 crore. An estimation also suggests that Dangal could have surpassed the ₹400 crore mark had it not been for Demonetization.
